Showroom Refresh

With our strengthened focus on product from Wood & Metal and Akaba products, the showroom on 19 Britton street got a recent refresh. We’ve added our new full wood leg, bridge high table and skinny flexible table system. From Akaba we now have the full range of kabi shell, upholstery and base options. The full collection of Hanna, the new XOKO bar stools, GUNE tables and AIA chairs. We also have the react leather upholstered executive chairs.

Neon | Height adjustable desks installed in Central London

The first of many upcoming projects, we recently installed 40 Neon workstations for a contemporary office in central London. The new height adjustable desk from our ‘Wood & Metal’ range were manufactured in Matt black legs & white tops with a contrast edging. The sit stand desks also came with shared integrated fabric screens and dual cable management.

We were also able to customise Neon so that it was 700 depth, so it was the best footprint to fit within the office space. The benches are electrically adjustable from 700-11700mm with 100KG of load bearing.  It has anti-collision technology as standard.

Desktop power & monitor arms can added, we also supplied underdesk storage. Legs can be in white, silver or black with an option for specific colours on larger projects. We have fully flexibility on tops finishes/edge details.

New products launched at Orgatec 2018

Akaba launched several new products at Orgatec month. The week long furniture exhibition in Cologne, Germany plays host to some of the biggest names in the manufacturing world, showcasing the latest in design. Three new products were launched, with a focus on co-working and natural materials.


XOKO is a barstool & low seating collection. Fully upholstered with a four leg, column or low base with castors. It allows you to work or socialise in many directions with the same level of comfort. Designed by Iratzoki Lizaso,  the range was created to enhance creative, learning or social environments. GUNE is an accompanying table series that not only comes in a series of heights, but levels of worksurfaces, allowing you to both work and store devices at the same time. It also has the capability of integrated power & clothes hanging creating productive but compact workspace.


There were also updates for the Hanna chair, which can now come with a high back seated version. This is possible on all it’s leg variations.


Also on show, an updated look for classic table range Carma, with wood tops & matt black base. Displayed alongside the Kabi swivel shown with autumnal fabric colours.


There was also a throwback to the early days of Akaba design, showcasing their 1986 Morsillon sofa which is a playful lounge reception sofa, combining different shapes & finishes to striking affect. Upholstered in new materials gives it a modern but retro feel that wouldn’t be out of place in the sharpest of offices.

Visit AKABA at Orgatec

Europe’s leading international furniture fair is back this week as Orgatec launches in Cologne. Last held in 2016, the German exhibition spans 13 halls from 23rd to 27th October and showcases the very best of European furniture design as well as seminars, and concepts.

AKABA will be showcasing yet again with several new products on display as well as expansions on existing families. They can be found at Hall 10.2 at Q48/P49 throughout the week.

AIA is a new chair design both in wood shell & fully upholstered with a distinctive steel wrapped frame. Designed by Isaac Piñeiro With simple lines and harmonious back & seat. It’s a chair we’re looking forward to promoting more in 2019.

XOKO is a new co-working family designed by Iratzoki Lizaso. Using the concepts of corners allows for several sitting positions. With three designs including a three leg stool, cylindrical bar stool & low version on castors.

Salone 2018

It was a brief flying visit to Italian capital of fashion and design, however Salone 2018 did not fail to impress. Whilst Milan’s districts are taken over with installations, talks, and launch parties which was difficult to even begin to scratch the surface, 10km outside the city centre in Fiero, 1100 exhibitors and 14 pavilions give you an expanse of modern design (and some VERY traditional – two halls of gold leaf domestic furniture was quickly passed through)

Forming mainly on the flexible and the collaborative, the use of natural materials is not set to disappear any time soon. The addition to the natural and biophilic stands was added to by “natural” and relaxing sounds being pumped on on some exhibitors turf, giving an all round sense of light, sound – will smell be next? I hope not.

Without going into too much detail below are just some of the shots we liked – want to find out more about any of these products, just ask and we’ll happily provide more information.

Hoop and Glory

Hoop and Glory

Hoop Legs are a great way to do something different and eye catching with your desks. Check out this recent case study where we installed over 100 of our 40X40 desks with black tops with ply effect edge and the hoop in a raw with clear lacquer.

The project had the requirement for non-standard module size and we manufactured these in 1300x700module hoops. The desks also required power access through the top and we achieved this using our eco-pass cable access with matching MFC infills. We also provided matching metal pedestals to suite through with the desks.

Visit Innerspace @ Surface Design Show

The good folks of Innerspace of Cheshire will be rolling out their materials for design once again in North London for the Surface Design Show 2018. They’ll be at their usual spot, stand 406, from 6 – 8 February 2018.

Surface Design Show returns to London’s Business Design Centre, showcasing the newest and best surfaces that the design industry has to offer.

Connecting innovative and exciting materials with an audience of architects, specifiers and designers, Surface Design Show is the only event in the UK that focuses solely on interior and exterior surfaces.

For more than ten years Surface Design Show has been the place where industry people immerse themselves in the latest materials for the built environment, gain new insights and network with like-minded designers, architects and suppliers.

It’s definitely worth taking a visit, fantastic for inspiring ideas, make sure you head on down.

Give your meeting room the cutting ‘Edge’

Launched at Clerkenwell Design week, which seems almost a lifetime ago. Our latest table programme developed in conjunction with our good friends in Italy is now fully available for projects.

Combining aluminium and steel profiles, the leg system can be used for both meeting rooms, touchdown tables and as a workstations (new project case study is inbound, which we’re incredibly excited to install.)



There are no visible welds, or fixations, creating incredibly clean lines. The top is 18mm and sits flush within the frame so you can create some great contrasts between leg and MFC, laminate or fenix top finishes.

After the success of last years event, we are back again during Clerkenwell Design Week with ‘Food + Furniture’ Mark II. Come join us on Thursday 25th May between 4-7pm (and probably later!) for great food and drink see some of our latest products including the launch of our new EDGE desk system.

We have Belgium beer tasting courtesy of woven vinyl manufacturer 2Tec2 and the fantastic artisan Italian street food from RaviOllie (who were a roaring success last year) It’s a great chance to catch up, have some fantastic food and drink and line the stomach ahead of the Clerkenwell Design Week’s evening festivities.

As well as our new EDGE system, in the showroom we will have our new KB seating range, modular sofa system and Alto tables. Our good friends Innerspace Cheshire will have their latest #materialsfordesign including ‘Hay on a roll” amongst other great finishes.

Creating table tennis breakout tables


Anyone for table tennis?

We’ve been working recently on creating dual purpose tables for meeting and  breakout spaces and  installed our first ping pong meeting table in Canary Wharf.  Table tennis is a great sport for the office as it’s sociable, fun and studies show increases blood flow to the brain increasing motor skills and cognitive awareness – Great for productivity!!

The table features a 25mm Fenix top, which is not only incredibly durable as a surface (and produces an excellent bounce…) but it’s also fingerprint and scratch resistant so is perfect material for both games and as a heavily used table. The ply edge gives it a softer feel and    contrasting Vinyl table markings are applied. We used our TILT frame as part of this project, but we have a range of different leg styles available at your disposal.

The net is always the most important part of a dual use table as putting it up is time consuming and leaving it up is impractical if you are using it for meetings. Our cork nets not only look really contemporary (and are regulation height…) but they fold up easily and be left, neat in the centre of the table. The balls even fold up within the net.

New products on display at Surface Design Show 7-9 Feb

2017 is in full swing and if you’re not off to Stockholm this week for seating and smorgasbords then head up to Angel  to visit the Surface Design show.

Our friends at Innerspace Cheshire are there all week on stand 406. They are renowned for bringing designers together with amazing and interesting materials for design.

Just some of what they have on display includes carpet from Tecsom and Carpet Concept, woven vinyl from 2Tec2 and some wild and wonderful materials and surfaces including, charred timber, moss, rust and concrete on a wall.

We will have our new Alto tables and accompanying bar stools on show so the guys have somewhere to put all their materials on! If you can’t make it this week, then do always stop by our showroom at 19 Britton Street. New Seating Range | Kabi Chair

We like this latest offering from designer Jorge Pensi. The multifunctional chair, available in conference, cafe and meeting styles is centered around the simple, stunning and extremely comfortable polypropylene shell. The contemporary shell colours include black, white, spicy mustard, blue, grey and turquoise with the leg powdercoated to match the frame.

It is also available additionally as semi or fully upholstered, looking excellent with the new Camira synergy range. For a more sleek and sophisticated look a four star matt black base can be added, or alternatively a multi laminated wood base.

New washed oak finish, perfect for contemporary workstations

We recently launched a new washed oak finish on our MFC desk top and meeting tables tops replacing the previous.  The new finish, that is available straight away has a slightly stronger white wash than the previous finish ‘more yellow finish’ as well as having a slight texture to the top giving a clean, yet realistic wood effect.

The washed oak tops, available in 18mm and 25mm as standard is a great option for contemporary workstations or meeting tables, and works especially well with white or raw finish legs. Washed oak is one of our standard MFC finishes and as well, so supporting cupboards as well as wooden under desk pedestals can be manufactured in the material.

furniture & partitioning completed in Ludgate Hill



We are delighted to announce we have completed the furniture and partitioning, including workwall, sliding door sets and high performance glass for Equistone partners on Ludgate Hill. The key to the success of the project was working with architects, product design team and contrators to ensure the differing aspects of the job came together seamlessly in a challenging timeframe.

The meeting room is often the hub of great ideas and creativity. Add some creativity to yours colour by choosing from a selection of fabrics and leather on our Kase meeting chairs. These chairs not only look great, but their also exceptionally comfortable.

Create an industrial look for your desks with Raw finishes

One of the trends of the past 18 months has been the emergence of a more industrial, stripped back effect on office furniture in the workplace. The urban-chic effect, has seen the effect of ‘raw’ finishes, amongst natural and reclaimed woods on desks, meeting tables and reception areas.

The ‘raw’ effect is one we can create on projects with ease on most of our products. It involves applying a clear lacquer to framework in the manufacturing process, not only giving it a smooth finish, but making it easy to maintain and keep clean. This urban feel is by no means rustic though, the desks still have a modular, easy-to-build system.

Below is a recent project using CUBE single desks with matching three drawer pedestals. It helps to create an eye-catching, modern environment. First CDW at Britton Street

Our first Clerkenwell Design week at our new showroom was a good one with two new products launching. Prism Wood is our new bench system combining a metal flexible system with an elegant wooden leg in several finishes. We also launched a high team table to use as a touch down point, café table with barstools or even a high meeting table.

We collaborated with folks at Innerspace Cheshire, using top made from their ‘concrete on a roll’ finish. That combined with the raw steel and clear lacquer finish gave a strikingly good industrial feel.

On the Thursday night we put on an event for CDW, with Italian street food courtesy of RaviOllie, who put on an excellent spread. It even got the thumbs up from our Italian guests – no better compliment!

We can’t offer you street food and champagne upon every visit, but we do make a mean cup of coffee. So if you’re in the Clerkenwell area, don’t hesitate to pop by and come and have a look at our products.

It’s been a few months since we settled into our sunny basement in Clerkenwell and we’re delighted to release some new products and finishes that will be on display during Clerkenwell Design week. The change in design of the open plan to include more organic finishes has lead up to develop Prism. juxtaposing steel with wood, in a systematised way allows a great flexibility in finishes – more will be revealed soon, but the angled leg looks great.

Rocking the Shack: Acoustic Hubs

The latest trends in office design have seen a sharp rise in offices with a more natural feel, focus on collaboration, agile working and good acoustics. There has also been a growing focus on how these elements and others affect employees mental health, as well as productivity.

Over the past decade we have seen the rise of the acoustic pod. From the phone booth for taking a quick call with privacy, to large meeting rooms, the pod has created the ability for the office to be dynamic internal rooms to be built retrospectively and irrespective of ceiling height or the environment.


Acoustic Hubs

2 years ago, Nick Turner came up with the concept of creating a modular acoustic hub made with a wooden frame. He was inspired by the concepts of a cabin in the woods, blanketed in snow and the acoustic properties that it brought with it.

Nick set up Acoustic Hubs and back in October launched “The Hub” at 100% Design, Olympia. The Hub is simple in it’s design, comprised of 8 pieces.  it’s modular and dynamic in what you can achieve. And most importantly, it’s very durable, so it’s built to last.


The Frame
Comprised of Douglas Fir,  this tree is found in abundance in the mountainous areas of British Columbia, and is one of the hardest of the softwood.  Due to the branches being found only at the top , you get lovely long pieces of wood. It is used throughout North America by timber specialists. The Douglas Fir used in the Hub makes it unique, very flexible product that can be finished in many different ways.

The Materials
There has been no compromise on the quality of materials used to manufacture the hub. From Saint Gobain Stadip Silence glass, Autex Quietspace panels, Camira for fabrics and Soundmask for digital noise generation, collectively it creates a pod with excellent acoustic properties.

The Finishes
There is no limit to the finishes you can call upon to create your own unique hub. From the paints, decals and wallpapers on the wooden panels, fabrics on the internal panels.You can intergrate a working whiteboard or screen, and have full choice of lighting and power options.

With thanks to the excellent work of Mark Radford (MarkRadfordDesign.com) who brought our designs to life, we now have a website that is product focussed. Images, sizes, finishes, it’s all available on your fingertips, we also have a case study catalogue so you can see how the products translate to real projects we have completed.

The ‘Water Cooler’ is the voicebox of our company. All our busy social media activity in located in one place, including all our blogs, pins, tweets and things we like within the interiors industry.
